  | How Washington State Notarial Processing Works

In an ongoing effort to expedite the process of obtaining a Notary Public license (commission) the State of Washington requests that all notaries personally create their profile and file their notary bond directly with the Department of Licensing’s Notary Section online at the Notary Section website https://www.dol.wa.gov/business/notary Be assured that while you have to create & manage your profile, we are still here to assist you with your bond, insurance, supplies & training. Please click on either the Application Instructions or Renewal Instructions link to the left for information specific to your needs.

  | Facts About Being a Notary In Washington State

FACT: All notaries must obtain a $10,000 notary surety bond written in their name for each term of commission. This bond is to protect the public and offers the notary no financial protection. That is what the optional insurance is for.

FACT: Notaries have a personal liability with each notarial act and it is their responsibility to know and follow the laws and procedures regarding notarial acts.

FACT: The state required notary journal & stamp are the exclusive property of the notary public and are to be kept in a locked and secured location under the direct and exclusive control of the notary at all times.
